As an early stage start-up, Epoch is seeking a VP, Engineering to join our Canadian team. As the VP Engineering you will play a key leadership role in driving Epoch's Engineering efforts to meet our strategic goals. This means, leading our roadmap in partnership with product, to plan, direct and oversee engineering activities to empower the team to hit our timelines and milestones to support our ongoing evolution.

Leaders from Salesforce, Datadog, Reddit, Instacart and more (like below!) use Epoch every day to enable their culture, internal comms, learning, and employee engagement programs.

👩‍💻 Who you are

You’re the right candidate if you are a forward-thinking leader and technologist with the ability to lead engineers both from a technical and personnel perspective. While we are a remote-first company, we do have co-working space in Kitchener-Waterloo and expect the VP, Engineering to spend time a few times a month.

• 7+ years of progressive experience in engineering roles
• 5+ years of experience in leadership positions overseeing complex engineering projects and teams
• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, driving high performance cultures, delivering results in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated excellence in building technical cultures with mission-driven urgency, quality and accountability across the entire life-cycle from planning, through development, and production support.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the demonstrated ability to gather and analyze complex data to drive insights and decision-making
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with a strong ability to plan, execute, and monitor engineering projects, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with quality standards
• The ability to communicate highly technical subject matter in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences
• Experience working in a startup environment with a high level of comfort navigating ambiguity, adapting to change, and taking calculated risks
• Desire to still contribute to code base
